Creating community. Building bridges.
Bridges School believes that the parent, child, and teacher create an important tie. We work to foster a strong sense of community with Bridges families and teachers.
Classroom and school-wide events are planned to bring students, faculty, and parents together.
Welcoming new and returning families
Class parents host back-to-school playdates over the summer in a relaxed setting for families to reunite with old friends and get to know new ones. Back-to-school Orientations and Popsicle Parties provide children and families an opportunity to spend time in the classrooms with their new teachers.
Celebrating together
Children, families, and teachers celebrate autumn with a school-wide Fall Festival, complete with pumpkins, face painting, live music, a pizza truck, and more. A year-end Family Picnic brings the Bridges community together with pony rides, live music, food and drink, and plenty of summertime fun.
Open House
In the spring, families are invited to tour every classroom where long-term project work is on display. Children become docents as they show their families the wide range of interesting subject matter Bridges students have chosen to explore throughout the school year.
Bringing parents together
Morning coffee get togethers and cocktail parties provide fun opportunities for parents to get to know one another and socialize.
It is a constant value for the children to know that the adult is there, attentive and helpful, a guide for the child. Perhaps this way of working with the child will build a different understanding of our role than we have had before.Clarifying the meaning of our presence and our being with children is something that is vital for the child. When the child sees that the adult is there, totally involved with the child, the child doesn’t forget. This is something that’s right for us, and it’s right for the child.
